This superb Berkel weigh scale dates from the 1950s and was originally used in an épicerie.

Wilhelmus Adrianus van Berkel was a butcher in Rotterdam in the late 19th century. He invented a cutting edge slicer then evolved his business to manufacture scales. This fine Berkel scale dates to circa 1960's and was used by merchants including butcher's, fishmongers, bakers and charcuterie specialists. A charming piece to enjoy on display in the kitchen.

It is made with enamel, chromed steel and other metals and is heavy. One side is mirrored, the other has weights in grams. 15 kilogram capacity.
