This lace-maker oil lamps dates from the nineteenth-century. The upper part contained the oil with the wick holder and its wick, behind it was a glass ball varying in diameter. This glass ball was filled with water, placed on a support and with the light of the lamp, it served as a magnifying glass that the lace-maker aimed at the part where she was working.
