Each leaf is individually shaped with a raised central vein and a softly convex profile, giving the frame greater depth, allowing the light to play across the surface and strengthening its sculptural quality. The gilded finish has mellowed with age, with subtle rubbing, tonal variation and a few discreet bends to the metal. The mirror plate remains clear, with only a few light surface scratches. An integral hook at the back allows for easy hanging.

A celebrated element of French decorative arts, the iconic sunburst mirror links the 17th-century royal aesthetic of Louis XIV to the vibrant home trends of the 1970s, proving its timeless appeal through decades of continuous reinvention. This later version keeps that familiar sense of light and movement in a lighter, more relaxed form. Its medium scale makes it easy to place, either above a small chest or side table, or as an accent in a corner that could use a little extra brilliance.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
Approx. overall 20½" high x 18" wide x 1½" thick
Approx. overall 52cm high x 46cm wide x 4cm thick
