Intended for toasting bread by the fire, Patricia recalls being told that such light wirework was fashioned by prisoners, and she found this example years ago at the Sunday brocante (flea market) in Vaison, Provence.\n\nToday it suits gentle service, a small tray for fruit, herbs, or petits fours (small pastries), or a trivet beneath a small pot.
