Its tapering, bell-shaped body is covered in a warm amber-brown glaze with a softly marbled appearance. A broad opening at the front allowed a candle to be placed inside, and remnants of old wax remain visible in the interior. The substantial loop handle is fully closed, allowing the lantern to be carried or securely suspended. The lower section shows pronounced wear, old chips and darkened traces from heat and flame, evocative evidence of its long working life. \u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eTerracotta lanterns were humble, practical household objects, made to protect a candle flame while providing portable light indoors or around farm buildings and courtyards.
