The generously proportioned rectangular frame with softly rounded upper corners is distinguished by a finely engraved floral band, set between slender moldings and a delicate beaded inner border that subtly articulate the frame. It retains its original water-gilded finish over red bole, now beautifully worn to reveal a striking two-tone effect: the engraved central band has mellowed to the warm reddish tones of the underlying bole, while the inner and outer moldings preserve their luminous gilding, creating a rich interplay of color, texture, and light. The surface appears to have been carefully sealed with a clear protective finish at some point, preserving its attractive aged character. The mirror plate has likely been replaced and remains clear with only minimal patination, providing an excellent reflection.
