A large and striking oil on canvas of a forest path in Montauban by Lucien Cadène (1887-1958). Cadène was influenced by Paul Cézanne. This painting dates from circa 1940.

Lucien Cadène , born on August 28 , 1887 in Montauban and died and buried in the same town on July 11 , 1958, is a French painter .
A former decorator with the ceramist André Metthey , a great war invalid who had withdrawn to his hometown, he put the lesson of Paul Cézanne and Georges Braque to the test all his life, inclining him towards classicism [ 1 ] . He painted many landscapes of Tarn-et-Garonne and especially of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val .
He is part of the school known as Montauban with Marcel Lenoir , Lucien Andrieu, François Desnoyer .
