Late 19th century Choisy-le Roi majolica asparagus pitcher - Hippolyte Boulanger 7½"

SKU: 15526

US$596
The Choisy-le-Roi faience factory was founded in 1804 and produced majolica pieces from 1860-1910 when Hippolyte Boulanger was the manager. The pitcher is stamped underneath with HB (for Hippolyte Boulanger) Coisy-le-Roi.

As seen here, "Choisy-le-Roi majolica characteristically has careful glazing, naturalistic colors, classic lines and designs, and a lack of the flamboyance that is seen in majolica by other French potters in the last two decades of the nineteenth century."
