Savoie, with its strong agricultural traditions and access to natural clay deposits, developed a distinctive ceramic style focused on practical domestic forms. During the 19th century, local workshops produced hand-moulded vessels for everyday use, often decorated with applied reliefs referencing fruit, foliage, and regional produce.

The pot is cylindrical in form, with a subtly flared rim and thick walls. The exterior is glazed in a deep olive green, highlighted by a central relief of an apple flanked by two heart-shaped leaves in tones of red, green, and blue. The interior and rim are finished in a contrasting pale yellow glaze. Small glaze irregularities and surface wear are present, consistent with its age and use. Originally used to store preserves or fruit confits, this piece is a characteristic example of Savoyard rural pottery. Its bold yet simple decoration and robust form reflect both the functionality and aesthetic sensibility of alpine domestic wares.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
Approx. overall 4¾" high x 4¼" diameter
Approx. overall 12cm high x 11cm diameter

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1166/6698/files/DSC03124_50fbb7f8-f69b-4c1e-b588-2a6e0eeaa70d.jpg?v=1754661652
