Its generously sized, well-padded oval seat is covered in a colorful floral needlepoint-style tapestry, featuring pink roses, lush green foliage and scrolling motifs against a warm red background. The dark wooden frame has graceful Louis XV-inspired curves, with a scalloped apron decorated with carved scrolls and a central cartouche. A row of darkened brass studs neatly outlines the upholstery. The footstool is in good antique condition, with slight discoloration to the tapestry in places and light wear to the wood. Some joints where the legs meet the frame have opened slightly with age, although the piece remains sturdy and stable.

Richly decorative and delightfully old-fashioned, it has just the right amount of French romantic flair. Its generous proportions make it a particularly comfortable footrest beside a large armchair or sofa in a bedroom or cozy sitting room, where its colorful flowers and playful character could bring a little warmth and whimsy.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
Approx. overall 8" high x 16½" long x 12½" wide
Approx. overall 20cm high x 42cm long x 32cm wide

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1166/6698/files/DSC02087_d9f2296b-594b-47f6-8428-b0a9a23c25cd.jpg?v=1793883918
https://www.chezpluie.com/products/romantic-french-footstool-with-red-floral-tapestry-early-20th-century-161-2
