Bursting with color and painterly vitality, this large late 19th-century ceramic umbrella stand showcases the expressive artistry of Jérôme Massier, a leading figure in the celebrated Vallauris ceramic tradition. Cylindrical in form and hand-painted with lush yellow and pink chrysanthemums, it captures both the exuberance of nature and the refined craftsmanship for which the Massier family atelier became known. The surface reveals richly layered glazes and confident brushwork, creating a composition that is both decorative and impressionistic. A few very minor chips on the rim attest to its age without compromising its strong visual impact.
