This vintage hand-thrown terracotta jug with a single strap handle is a petite pitcher of baluster form, enriched with spiral gadrooning in raised relief. The handle rises with a gentle curve and is pinched at the crest for ease of grip, its handmade character evident in the modeling. The neck is detailed with incised bands and small applied bosses, and the surface is finished in a green glaze that shifts from olive to deep forest tones. Thinner across the relief and pooling in the channels, the glaze produces a subtle metallic sheen that animates the surface. The interior is glazed, while the foot and lower base reveal the warm terracotta body beneath.
As a decorative accent, it can serve as a vase for fresh garden blooms or stand empty alongside faïence and brass to play with texture and sheen. Its rich green glaze and metallic highlights lend depth to interiors, layering easily into rustic settings while also offering contrast within clean-lined contemporary spaces. Charming in scale, the jug makes a sculptural statement on kitchen shelving, a console, or a mantel, and brings authentic country character to both rustic and modern interiors.
