This antique French farinier dates to the early 20th century and is crafted from solid walnut with a warm patina. Traditionally used for storing flour in Provencal kitchens it features a top compartment accessed by a hinged lid. The piece stands on elegant cabriole legs with scrolling acanthus carvings and a shaped apron. The front is adorned with a finely hand-carved trophy of crossed fish, a spear and a trident reminiscent of Poseidon. This sculptural detail is complemented by a floral medallion crowning the high scalloped back and a matching carved apron along the base. The side panels are shaped with molded contours that reflect the overall curving form. The carving is sharp and detailed across all three decorative elements making this a fine example of southern French craftsmanship.
A matching salt box is available for separate purchase.
