A charming set of four advertising tumblers from the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, dating from the 1930s or 1940s. Light and finely made, these slender glasses are decorated with printed motifs evoking the golden age of French transatlantic travel, including ocean liners and stylised travel imagery. There are no visible chips, and the glasses remain in very good condition overall; only a few minor, age-related stains are present, which do not detract from their charm or display appeal.
The Compagnie Générale Transatlantique, often known as the French Line, was one of the most prestigious shipping companies of its time, operating famous liners such as the Normandie. Promotional objects like these glasses were produced to celebrate and advertise the glamour and modernity of ocean travel during the interwar period.
Elegant and evocative, this set makes a wonderful addition to a collection of maritime memorabilia or vintage barware. They would also add a refined and nostalgic touch to a drinks tray or bar cart, perfect for serving aperitifs with a story.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
