French Antiques for Entry and Foyer

Entry

The entry hall sets the tone for everything beyond it, and the objects chosen for this space carry more weight than their size or number might suggest.

Furnishing an entrance well requires a different kind of discipline from the rest of the house. The pieces here are selected for their ability to compose rather than simply occupy, each one chosen with an awareness of how it reads from a distance and how it holds up to closer inspection. French furniture of the 17th and 18th centuries was made with exactly this in mind, where proportion, material, and joinery were considered together rather than separately. Lighting at either end of a console table anchors the arrangement and extends the room's warmth into the evening. A mirror above draws the eye upward and opens the space, while a sculptural object at table height introduces a counterpoint that prevents the whole from reading as merely decorative. A painting on the wall nearby gives the room a point of view.

These pieces work together as a composed vignette, but each one also stands independently. A console table placed against the wall benefits from a mirror hung directly above it, and a pair of table lamps on either side of a sculptural object brings warmth and symmetry to the arrangement. For entries with enough space, a bench against the opposite wall completes the room without crowding it.

Each piece is precisely measured, clearly documented, and professionally photographed, with condition carefully noted. Stock availability is maintained in real time. All items ship directly from France and are packed using methods developed for fragile and valuable antiques.

A well-furnished entry does not announce itself loudly, but it is always the first thing a visitor remembers.
