This early-twentieth century 'fountain' was used for serving Vermouth and is branded 'Richard'. It has a wonderful ball-shaped faceted top and sits on a metal base. There is a little spigot for distributing water.
Vermouth, a fortified and flavored wine, is traditionally served chilled, either straight, on the rocks, or as a key ingredient in cocktails like the Martini and Manhattan. It can also be enjoyed with a garnish such as a lemon twist or olive. In some traditions, particularly in France and Italy, vermouth is served using a decorative device known as a "fountain," which dispenses the drink in a controlled, ceremonial manner. Richard Vermouth, established in 1895 by the Richard family in Italy, became renowned for its high-quality vermouth, contributing significantly to the drink’s popularity in both cocktails and as a stand-alone beverage.
