This rectangular serving platter, hand-painted in ceramic, captures the charm and authenticity of traditional French craftsmanship. Bearing the signature mulberry leaf mark of the Le Mûrier workshop in Vallauris, it features a subtle speckled background adorned with stylized botanical motifs in earthy red and green tones, fused beneath the glaze. The irregular, subtly imperfect shape and expressive brushwork reveal its handmade origin, while gentle surface wear adds to its character and timeless appeal.
Founded in 1955 by Gustave Reynaud (1915–1972), the Le Mûrier workshop gained recognition for his distinctive contribution to the Vallauris pottery scene,a region celebrated during the 1950s and 60s for its bold, artistic innovations in ceramic art. The arrival of skilled artisans such as turner Jean-François Descombes and decorators Michel Barbier and Jean Rivier elevated the Le Mûrier workshop’s production of tableware and lamps, distinguished by their high quality and recognizable use of copper red and cobalt blue on creamy backgrounds. Over the years, many young ceramists, including Olivier Roy, passed through the workshop, contributing to its vibrant legacy.
This piece's unique patterns make it a distinctive centerpiece on a dining table, a charming addition to open kitchen shelving, or a stylish platter for serving snacks and appetizers
