This vintage agricultural prize plaque from 1954 is a wonderful piece of French rural history, awarded at a local fair in Ernée, a town in the Mayenne department in northwestern France.. Cast in aluminum and finished in a soft, weathered blue, the plaque commemorates a third-place award for a purebred Normande bull over 14 months old, classified as "sans dents" (without adult teeth). The raised lettering is crisply detailed, and a small loop remains at the top for hanging, as it would have originally been displayed on a farm building or stable door.

These plaques were once symbols of achievement in livestock breeding, proudly mounted to mark a farm’s pedigree and success. Today, they bring a charming, rustic touch to interiors and are especially appealing when used as wall décor in kitchens, barns, or garden sheds. Whether on its own or grouped with other vintage plaques, this piece adds depth and authenticity to any space. A curated collection of other plaques from the same period is also available.
