A mid-20th century Keraluc ceramic pitcher by André L’Helguen, 1960s. This hand-painted faience piece features a graceful baluster form with a softly pinched spout and generous strap handle. Deep green sponged borders frame raised cartouches of stylized foliate motifs in ochre, umber, and cobalt, accented with touches of turquoise, while a scalloped band encircles the neck. Signed beneath the base, it remains in very good condition, with light rubbing at the rim and gentle glaze wear at the spout, the surface retaining a soft, even sheen.
Founded in 1948 in Brittany, Keraluc became known for its artist-led approach, combining Breton folk traditions with a modern, graphic sensibility. Working closely with individual painters such as L’Helguen, the workshop produced expressive, small-batch ceramics that balanced strong form, have made Keraluc pieces enduringly appealing to collectors and decorators alike.
Perfect for everyday use or decorative display, this piece can hold water or fresh juice — or double as a vase for simple garden flowers. Placed on a shelf or console, its patterned body brings warmth and a collected feel to rustic or coastal interiors. It feels perfectly at home on an alfresco summer table, bringing an effortless touch of French charm.
