Paul Girol, born Paul Maurice Girol on May 18, 1911, in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, France, was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Lucien Simon, alongside contemporaries such as Yves Brayer and Robert Humblot. Girol's early work included creating theater set designs and decorative pieces for storefronts. He held his first solo exhibition in 1935 at Galerie Armand Drouant in Paris. Throughout his career, Girol traveled extensively, drawing inspiration from regions like Brittany, Portugal, and Italy. His art often depicted landscapes, seascapes, and scenes from daily life, characterized by vivid colors and expressive compositions. He passed away on September 30, 1988, in his hometown of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés.
