Nanking (or Nankin) ceramics are Chinese porcelain produced mainly during the Qing dynasty, particularly under Emperor Kangxi (1661–1722). Made in Jingdezhen kilns, these ceramics were exported to Europe via the port of Nanking, hence their name. The "Nanking Cargo," a collection of blue-and-white porcelain from the Dutch East India Company ship Geldermalsen, which sank in 1752, is a notable example. This cargo was auctioned by Christie's in 1986, drawing significant attention to Nanking ceramics.
