A stunning dark green glazed terracotta walnut oil pot with two handles and a spout. Made in the eighteenth century in the Auvergne region of France, this lovely pot bears its original glazed patina with some black speckling/residue. Note its ribbed form and hand-pressed doigtier rim around the top of the neck defined by pressing fingers into the soft clay.

Curated from a private collection in the south of France, this charming piece of pottery will make an irresistible addition to a collection of French pottery. Auvergne is a historical region in central France, and is now part of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Note the chip to the nozzle and some chips to glaze on handles/top as seen in photos.
