A lovely antique lidded water cruche from south west France from Chanteduc, the home of Patricia and Walter Wells in Provence. Dating from the early-twentieth century, glazed terracotta ewers like these were used for fetching water from the village fountain for domestic use. Patricia loves to use these for ice water on the table as they keep the water cool with their demi-glaze and terracotta clay cooling properties. She loves their antique shape that is both charming and functional for contemporary use. This yellow-glazed pitcher will make a lovely addition to your table or collection or antique French pottery.
