A charming antique French pitcher for Pastis water from the 1940-50s from Chanteduc, the home of Patricia and Walter Wells in Provence. This piece is signed beneath J. Clement, France followed by a number 4026 model number. Pastis was invented in the 1930s after the ban of absinthe in France. Keeping one in the house has become a deeply rooted tradition of locals in Provence. When asked for her comments on this piece, Patricia simply replied "there's not much to say other than: "Provence, Provence!" - We couldn't say it better! 

Note solid repair to handle and crackled glaze.

Heavy wear and rustic condition consistent with age and use.
