This striking broad shallow bowl / plate dates from the late twentieth century. Made from earthenware with a lovely blue glaze, the pattern could be interpreted as a large blue eye. It was made by Inger Persson (1936-2021), a prominent Swedish ceramic designer, known for her innovative and vibrant designs, particularly during her time at the Rörstrand factory. It is signed underneath.Born in Sandarne, Hälsingland, Sweden, on December 26, 1936, she studied at Konstfack University in Stockholm from 1955 to 1959. During her studies, she gained practical experience working at Gustavsbergs Porcelain Factory and Uppsala Ekeby. After graduating, Persson was hired by Fredrik Wehtje, the director of Rörstrand, where she became one of the leading designers from 1959 to 1971, and then again from 1982 to the mid-1990s. Her work for Rörstrand includes notable designs such as the "Colette" (1967), "Pop" (1968), "Spisa" (1984), and "Pro Arte" (1994) series.
