This hand-decorated vase in colored glass paste features a rounded base that narrows to a gently flared neck, its satin surface shifting from pale straw to warm ocher. Bold fruit and foliage enameld motifs wrap the body in tangerine and deep green, outlined with dark contour lines that create a lively, graphic effect. Signed “leg.” for Legras, it is French work from the 1920s, created during a period when naturalistic decoration and richly colored enamels were celebrated across leading glass studios.
Founded in the late 19th century, the Legras workshops were among the most innovative French glassmakers of their time. Known for their mastery of acid-etched, enameled, and cameo glass, Legras pieces often feature lush botanical themes rendered in vivid color and strong outlines, combining technical sophistication with decorative vitality. This vase exemplifies the transition from Art Nouveau naturalism toward more stylized Art Deco designs. The condition is good, with light surface wear and a few rubs to the decoration, consistent with age. A small nick to the yellow glass at the back.
Display it on a kitchen sideboard or dining room console, where its orchard palette can brighten a quiet corner. The form is charming with a single stem or a small cluster of seasonal flowers, yet it also holds presence as a sculptural accent on its own. Pair it with warm woods and patinated metals, or set it against linen and stone for gentle contrast, and enjoy the soft glow and cheerful color it brings to a refined interior.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
