A tall cast iron hall stand dating to circa 1900, finished in pale sage green with a timeworn surface, the casting modeled as a lattice of bamboo canes. It features eight coat hooks arranged around a central panel with a small square mirror - later replaced, now clear and fully functional - and a removable enameled cast iron umbrella tray at the base, divided into two compartments for drainage and easy cleaning. Shaped by the late 19th-century taste for bamboo and Japanese-inspired ornament, it displays authentic signs of oxidation and scattered paint losses that beautifully reflect its age and history. For everyday use, it is best secured to a wall.
In an entryway or garden room, this sculptural piece introduces height, rhythm, and a gentle note of color. The eight hooks neatly organize coats, hats, scarves, and market bags, while the twin drip trays catch umbrellas with practical elegance and can be easily lifted out for rinsing. Equally at home in a boutique or hotel foyer, it offers a graceful place to gather guests’ umbrellas and hats, a practical convenience expressed with elegance. Bringing together the quiet strength of cast iron and the refined lines of bamboo, it introduces a subtle historic note that adds warmth, character, and personality to the space.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
