A generous porcelain dinner service for eight, comprising 30 pieces, late 19th to early 20th century, produced in Limoges as confirmed by stamps. Finished in luminous white, each piece features softly scalloped rims outlined with a rich cobalt blue enamel band, intricately patterned with interlaced gilt detail and framed by fine gold lines. The contrast between deep blue and warm gilding lends the service a refined, jewel-like elegance. Each piece is further embellished with a delicate gilt monogram.
The service includes dinner and soup plates, smaller plates for dessert or starters, a footed compote, oval platters in graduated sizes, and substantial covered tureens with loop finials and scrolling handles, all echoing the same undulating rim and decorative border.
The glaze is bright and even, and the gilding retains a warm tone. Condition is very good, with light rubbing to the gilding, faint utensil marks, and minor enamel wear in places, all consistent with age; no obvious chips or cracks observed.
Reflecting the refined taste of the period, the set combines elegant proportions with restrained ornament. Each piece is monogrammed, suggesting a custom commission, and the fine porcelain body offers both delicacy and durability. Ideal for both display and use, it pairs beautifully with crystal, linen, and silver, bringing a touch of French sophistication to the table.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
