An unusual and sculptural folk art table formed from a late 19th-century jeweller's or silversmith's workbench. The thick oak top is constructed from wide planks cut into a distinctive multi-lobed form, originally allowing several craftsmen to work around the same surface. Functional edge notches used to support small shelves or tools remain visible around the perimeter, while two drilled holes at the rear indicate where the bench was once fixed to a wall.
The richly patinated surface bears the marks of decades of use, including wear, stains, tool marks, and age cracks, all contributing to its character and authenticity. The base is a later creation, ingeniously assembled from salvaged wrought-iron andirons joined together, giving the piece an inventive and highly decorative quality.
Whether used as a centre table, unusual dining table, display table, or dramatic console, it brings warmth, texture, and authenticity to a space. The combination of aged oak and wrought iron works equally well in country houses, lofts, mountain retreats, or contemporary interiors, where its unusual silhouette immediately draws the eye and creates a memorable focal point.
