A singular pedestal side table of cabinetmaker design, crafted in solid fruitwood with a warm honey tone, likely French and dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The circular top with a slight overhang rests on a shaped apron supported by four Louis XV–inspired cabriole legs. At the center sits a petite cupboard inset with framed blue glass panels, each featuring a textured, patterned design to the door and sides, and finished with a small white ceramic pull hand-painted with blue flowers. The inventive combination of storage and table form suggests the work of a skilled joiner creating a personal or bespoke piece, blending rustic provincial craft with refined curves. The wood surface displays scattered scuffs, small edge nicks, and light scratches to the top, while the distinctive blue glass panels remain in very good condition.
This charming table works beautifully beside an armchair as a lamp or drinks stand, offering discreet storage for books or remotes within the central compartment. It would add a gentle splash of color in an entry or sunroom where light can animate the blue panes, and it serves equally well as an eclectic nightstand. The compact scale and curving legs make it an easy accent in layered interiors, from French country to collected and contemporary.
