A charming early nineteenth-century mirror featuring a beveled oak frame with faded green rustic patina. Note the original antique mercury mirror glass shows some visible foxing and aging. Reflection is visible but may be a bit misty in places.
This mirror would make a lovely French country statement in a powder bathroom or above a console in an entry or living space where it may be used as a decorative statement. Adding to its versatility, this mirror can be hung in a portrait or landscape direction. Please Note a visible separation line seen in photos on a lower piece of the frame.
This mirror contains its original mercury glass which sparkles beautifully in the light. The technique of making mercury glass mirrors was retired in the early 1900s. The mercury is fixed behind the glass in a solidified, non harmful state.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
