A small early 20th-century engraving depicting the Roman bridge at Vaison-la-Romaine in Provence, a town renowned for its remarkably preserved Roman remains. The bridge itself, dating from antiquity, has spanned the Ouvèze river for nearly two thousand years and remains one of the most enduring landmarks of the region. Rendered in fine, precise linework, the composition captures the solidity of the stone arch and the quiet atmosphere of the surrounding village. A signature and dedication in the lower right add a personal touch.
The paper has gently mellowed over time, with light toning and minor foxing consistent with age. Presented under glass in a simple wooden frame, the piece has an understated, authentic character.
Well suited to a study, library, or hallway, it works beautifully on its own or grouped with other prints, bringing a subtle sense of place and history to an interior.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
