This early 20th-century French enamelware drip coffee pot has a petite conical form with a domed lid, slender gooseneck spout, and twin strap handles, one on the upper chamber and one on the pot below. Made of metal coated in enamel, it is hand-painted with bouquets of pansies and lily of the valley on a white ground softly shaded in sky-blue at the rim and base. The pot retains its lid, upper chamber, and lower pot, though the filter has lost its mesh. In attractively timeworn condition, it shows scattered enamel chips, minor losses on the lid, handles, and spout, and light oxidation along exposed edges. It is now intended for decorative use only.
Originally designed for drip coffee, this two-part form was a staple of French kitchens from the Belle Époque through the interwar years. The blue gradient and floral motifs capture the charm of enamelware from the period, when durable enamel finishes were paired with cheerful decoration. Pansies symbolized remembrance and friendship, while lily of the valley conveyed good luck, making this pot both functional and meaningful in its time.
Today it offers authentic French farmhouse character to a kitchen dresser, open shelving, or country buffet, and can also be styled as a vessel for dried blooms or utensils, adding a gentle, rustic accent.
