This long early-20th-century French workshop table has a striking, elongated silhouette and a distinctly bicolor presence, combining a natural pine top and drawer fronts with a charcoal painted base. The wide pine plank top shows years of use in its softened edges, surface marks, and scattered stains. The straight apron is fitted with four drawers, each fronted in bare, timeworn pine and fitted with recessed brass pulls that vary slightly in shape and wear, reflecting practical workshop replacements over time. Below, the square tapered legs are finished in charcoal paint that has worn away along the edges and feet to reveal warm wood beneath. The table carries an appealing workshop patina with abrasions, small nicks, and gentle paint wear consistent with age, yet it remains structurally solid and steady.
Ideal as a long console in an entry, behind a sofa, or along a gallery wall, it also works beautifully as a kitchen server or studio worktable. In a dining room, it can be raised on discreet sabots to reach comfortable seating height and paired with Windsor chairs for a relaxed farmhouse feel or Tolix-style painted chairs for an industrial note of color.
