A petite Art Deco rafraîchissoir for two to three bottles, dating to circa 1930, displays a crisply faceted silver-plated body with canted corners and a removable internal divider that keeps bottles upright. It presents stepped gilt-metal handles with black enamel accents that introduce a refined geometric contrast. It bears the E.V.A stamp beneath, and it retains an atmospheric patina with light oxidation and a scattering of faint surface scratches.
Shaped by the streamlined aesthetic of the interwar years, this cooler reflects the modernist spirit of Parisian workshops, where silversmiths combined disciplined geometry with luxurious touches. It originally functioned as a tableside vessel filled with ice to maintain wine at serving temperature, and its removable cradle facilitated both efficient service and easy cleaning. The E.V.A stamp denotes a French maker whose work aligns with the refined geometric metalware produced by numerous Parisian ateliers during the height of Art Deco design.
An elegant accent for a bar cart or sideboard, it introduces a tailored note to cocktail service. It can chill a pair of bottles for intimate entertaining, or it can serve as a sleek cachepot when the divider is removed to hold a low floral arrangement. Its minimalist lines integrate effortlessly with contemporary interiors, while the patinated silver bring a touch of poetry.
