This French four-panel paravent from the 1980s is crafted in dark-stained wood and detailed with wide bands of chocolate-brown leather set in horizontal, channelled rows, giving the screen a warm, architectural rhythm. The rectilinear leaves fold on patinated brass hinges, and the mix of smooth leather and sturdy timber creates a grounded, quietly luxurious presence. The leather shows natural creasing and gentle waviness from age, along with scattered scuffs and small abrasions; the wooden frames carry rubbed edges and minor nicks, and the hinges are pleasantly tarnished. In good, timeworn condition, the screen feels both tactile and substantial, bringing an inviting sense of depth and privacy to a bedroom, dressing area, or living space.
Use it to define a seating area or discreetly soften the presence of a workstation without interrupting the flow of light. In a bedroom, it works well as a dressing screen, a backdrop for a console or valet, or even as a sculptural bedhead that lends the space a rich, layered look. Its warm brown palette blends effortlessly with linen upholstery, wicker, and bronze lighting, and it can mellow the crisp lines of modern interiors or harmonize with rustic, stone-floored rooms just as naturally.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
