This large Savoyard glazed terracotta pitcher, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, has a straight cylindrical body rising to a collar rim with a pinched pouring lip and a simple strap handle. The surface is finished in a warm straw-yellow glaze and decorated with vertical trailed lines in rust, dotted green, and wavering black strokes, while the interior is fully glazed. Small chips at the rim and base, together with soft glaze wear, attest to age and use.
Once used in Alpine households for serving milk, cider, or water, this generous pitcher reflects the regional tradition of enlivening practical forms with cheerful hand-drawn decoration in colored slips. Today its rustic geometry and mellow palette bring authentic warmth to a kitchen shelf, console, or dining table, whether displayed on its own, grouped with other pottery, or used as a vessel for utensils, branches, or flowers.
