A substantial hand-thrown terracotta water jug from southern France, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The ovoid body features a wide everted rim with a rolled lip, a pinched spout, and a single pulled handle. The unglazed exterior displays natural tones of buff, sand, and umber with throwing rings, kiln shadowing, and traces of ochre slip beneath the rim, while the interior retains a worn brown glaze. Its weathered surface and generous form convey the rustic utility and timeless beauty of traditional French pottery.
Its earthy palette and honest texture lend quiet presence on a kitchen shelf, console, or farmhouse table. Use it as a vase for fresh blooms with a liner, or use it to hold wooden utensils. Grouped with olive jars and other provincial ceramics, it introduces authentic Provençal warmth to contemporary and traditional interiors alike.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
