A lovely Savoyard glazed earthenware creamer from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. It has a pretty baluster form with a pinched pouring lip and a pulled loop handle. The body carries a warm ocher glaze, the lower register enlivened by jaspé marbling in olive green and pale yellow that rises in soft, fluid swirls.
The interior is glazed in a light straw tone. The marbled effect, known as jaspé was achieved by swirling colored barbotine slips over an iron-rich ground before firing.
This small pitcher reads beautifully as a vase for meadow stems on a farmhouse table or as a charming accent on open kitchen shelving grouped with other Savoyard pieces. Its ocher, green, and pale yellow palette pairs well with pine, walnut, terracotta, and natural linens. Place it on a windowsill, breakfast nook, or powder room ledge to introduce gentle color and a tactile, rustic note.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
