This petite mid-20th-century Bavarian porcelain vase is finished in a luminous white glaze that highlights its graceful baluster form, rising to a softly scalloped, beaded rim. A band of low-relief rocaille shell ornament encircles the gently swelling body, which is raised on four small, scrolling feet that lift it lightly from the surface. The modeling is crisp and the glaze even and glossy. No chips or cracks observed, and only light wear to the glaze.
The mark “Königl. pr. Tettau,” found underneath the base, refers to the Royal Privileged Porcelain Manufactory of Tettau, a renowned German maker.
Bavarian porcelain has long been regarded among the finest in Europe, with a tradition rooted in the 18th century alongside celebrated manufactories such as Meissen and Nymphenburg. Known for its high-quality hard-paste body and luminous, glassy glaze, it combined technical precision with refined decorative sensibility. This piece reflects that lineage, with crisply molded ornament and a finely finished surface that speaks to skilled workshop production. Its light, elevated stance and softly shaped rim draw on Rococo Revival influences that remained popular in southern Germany well into the 20th century.
Delicate and versatile in scale, this vase is easily placed on a bedside, vanity, or console. Use it for a few stems, group it with other white porcelains, or set it on a tray to anchor a simple arrangement. Its refined silhouette and soft white surface integrate effortlessly into both traditional and contemporary interiors.
