This pair of French wrought-iron andirons with integral pot stands, dating to the 1960s, is hand-forged in the traditional manner after antique models once used in rustic countryside kitchens. Each features a circular ring top, riveted joints, arched feet, and long rear billet bars for supporting logs. The upper rings held cups or small bowls to warm liquids, while the front hooks were designed to suspend horizontal bars from which pots or kettles could hang for cooking or roasting. Finished in a unified rust-brown patina with a hammered texture, they bring authentic rustic character to a hearth or country interior.
These andirons lend strong architectural presence to a hearth, whether in a limestone mantel or a rough stone surround. Use them to support firewood in a working fireplace or style them in an unused firebox with stacked logs for texture. The pot rings can also hold large pillar candles when the hearth is not lit, bringing warm, sculptural character to farmhouse, chalet, or industrial interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
