Some history about nightstands:

Used from 1720 onwards, the nightstand adopts its characteristic role as a piece of furniture placed beside the bed, signifying intimacy, and aligning with the Louis XV reign. During this period, it follows the Rococo style, featuring curved profiles, edged with wavy lines, and joined by curved aprons that blend into the feet's curves. The bronze details are intricately engraved and gilded with Rococo motifs. Around 1760, with the emergence of a new fashion that sought to "break away" from the Rococo style, many curved lines gave way to more rational lines linked to simple geometry. These designs include square, circular, or oval tops with straight-edged borders, cubic or cylindrical bodies, and slightly curved but more streamlined legs, connected by barely curved or straight aprons. With the end of the Louis XV style and the advent of Louis XVI, even the legs lost their curves, descending vertically to the ground in pyramid or truncated cone shapes, either smooth or fluted.
