A charming and rare pair of round maroon and transparent cut crystal finials for a staircase. These date to the late nineteenth century, France, and were quite fashionable in upper class homes and Hôtel Particulars in Paris. Unsigned but attributed to the celebrated Parisian jeweler and glass designer René Lalique (1860-1945) who was known to create similar pieces at the time. Note the cut glass and beautiful brass bases in lovely condition for their age.
Collected over time, note photos to view how one of the two shows a slightly higher fading in color, perhaps from being situated near a large window over time exposed to light. These lovely pieces are ready to add an elegant touch of French history to your space and staircase.
More about Lalique:
Born in 1860 in Aÿ-Champagne, René Lalique was to become one of the greatest names of his time, renowned both as a jeweler and a master glassmaker. His unique and instantly recognizable style was a major influence on the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements. Source: Musée Lalique
