This early twentieth century pair of earthenware pitchers carries the quiet strength and warmth of traditional rural pottery. Hand thrown and finished in flowing banded glazes, their surfaces move through tones of sand, honey, and deep brown, with natural variations that reflect the rhythm of the wheel and the kiln. . Each vessel is formed with a side pouring lip and a simple pulled handle, practical details that speak to their everyday function. Made in Dieulefit, a historic pottery center in southeastern France known for generations of utilitarian wares, these pitchers were created for everyday kitchen use, where durability, generous form, and expressive glazing were valued above perfection.
Today, they bring an authentic, grounded presence to an interior. Display them together on open shelving for an effortless collected look, or separate them to hold utensils by the stove, brushes on a desk, or seasonal stems on a table. Their mellow colors and honest textures add depth and warmth, offering a sense of lived history that complements both rustic and refined spaces.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
