Dating from the late sixteenth century (circa 1560-1580), this hand-carved oak dresser is of museum quality and was sourced from a manor in Normandy. It features a beautiful curved design with intricate Renaissance carvings and early marquetry, highlighting its historical significance. The dresser consists of two parts, with the top section sitting on the bottom. It has four doors, with the central section fixed closed. The detailed carvings include intricate patterns and architectural elements, supported by robust, ornately carved columns. The upper section displays finely carved panels, while the lower section features detailed marquetry with diamond patterns and decorative motifs. The piece is entirely original, except for the locks which were added later. The robust construction and thick back underscore its durability.
