Its ladder-like construction and combination of teak, black metal, and textured Perspex are characteristic of French modernist lighting of the 1950s and 1960s, particularly designs associated with Parisian makers such as Maison Arlus and Lunel. The use of new translucent materials in place of traditional fabric shades gives the lamp its distinctly architectural, forward-looking character.
Its slim proportions make it particularly well suited to a living room corner, beside a desk, or in an entryway where space is limited. By day, the geometric frame reads almost as a sculptural object; when lit, the three resin panels diffuse the light into a soft, atmospheric glow. Its restrained palette and vertical form work equally well in mid-century and contemporary interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
