This sculptural pair of pedestal planters is cast in exposed aggregate concrete inset with rounded river pebbles. Each features a deep tazza form with a slightly everted rim above a waisted stem and broad circular foot, the pebble cladding forming a handsome, natural mosaic. Dating to the 1950s, they display a pleasing garden patina with timeworn rims, scattered small chips, light surface losses, and traces of moss and lichen from outdoor use, yet they remain sturdy and ready for planting.
Place the pair to flank a garden path, entry steps, or a pool terrace, where their texture plays gracefully against brick, stone, or gravel. They suit both modern courtyards and country house settings, making striking vessels for ivy, lavender, or sculptural succulents. Set on low plinths to emphasize their silhouette, or bring one indoors to a sunroom or conservatory as a rugged focal point with seasonal plantings.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
