This superb set of seven antique French lidded pots are for serving "pot de crème". They are decorated with masks and pretty round handles that are cream glazed while the rest is glazed with chocolate brown glaze. They are branded Lunéville underneath. Pot de crème is a classic French dessert that is a rich, creamy custard. The name translates to "pot of cream" in English, reflecting its luxurious texture and flavor. The dessert is traditionally served in small lidded pots, which help maintain its silky consistency.
Lunéville faience, originating in 1723 in Lunéville, France, was established by Jacques Chambrette. It gained prominence after receiving royal patronage from King Louis XV in 1748. Known for its vibrant, detailed designs featuring floral and pastoral motifs, Lunéville faience embraced the Rococo style and later adapted to Art Nouveau and Art Deco influences.
