Wear as seen in photos Gien, located in the Loiret department of France, has been a center for ceramic production since the early 19th century. Established in the 1820s, Gien initially focused on creating faience, a type of tin-glazed earthenware known for its durability and decorative appeal.

The town's ceramics industry flourished due to its strategic location along the Loire River, which facilitated transportation and trade.
