This striking late 19th-century Dutch mirror is made in the 17th-century taste, with a strong architectural presence and generous scale. The rectangular frame is carved in ebonized wood with a stepped cushion profile, bordered by twin bands of ripple molding and fine beading that subtly catch the light. The deep black finish, softened over time, gives the piece a rich satin sheen. The beveled mirror plate is bright and clear, offering crisp reflections. The frame shows gentle rubbing to the high points of the ebonized surface, revealing warmth beneath, along with a scratch to the glass. These small signs of age are discreet and consistent with time, adding character without distracting from its overall impact.
Ripple-molded frames are closely associated with Dutch design, originally popular during the 17th century when craftsmen created textured surfaces to mimic the luxury of ebony. This later revival captures that same disciplined elegance while remaining versatile and timeless.
Substantial yet refined, this mirror anchors a space with confidence. Its dark frame creates a strong, graphic outline that works beautifully in both classic and contemporary interiors.

Condition and patina consistent with age.

Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
